Oktoberfest is a 16-day festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, running from late September to early October. It is of the most famous events in Germany and the world’s largest fair, with some six million people attending every year… The original Oktoberfest occurred in Munich for the commemoration of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.
TPS has its own version of this festival especially since October is Children’s Month”. We’ll start with Pet Day on October 1, TPS Day of Prayer on the 7th, then the celebration of United Nations Day on the 25th, and finally the most waited Costume Fun Day on the 27th! These will serve as welcome breaks with the academic lessons getting more challenging.
We thank all parents and guardians for continuing to support all these activities!
GLOBAL PALMRISTA
By this time, you must have met “Global Palmrista” – TPS Flat Stanley- as the children mailed him to friends or relatives in different parts of the world. It was introduced as a Language activity that made the lesson on letter writing exciting.
The activity is tied up with the coming celebration of United Nations Day. You will find the pictures showing where “Global Palmrista” was able to go posted on the Preschool lobby walls during U.N. Week. Bon voyage “Global Palmrista”!
Pet Day is on Friday, October 1. Bring your pets to school, introduce them feel how it is to be in your school! You can go around too and get to know pets from other classes. Let’s love our pets! (Please see back page guidelines for Pet Day.)
TPS DAY OF PRAYER
It’s a day of prayer on the 7th. Since it’s Children’s Month, the intentions would be geared towards caring for young people. TPS has been known for helping educationally underprivileged children and we would like to offer them prayers and help through donations in our very own outreach program, “Tulakarunungan”. We invite everyone to bring their donations (e.g. food, school, clinic and hygiene supplies) on this day.
TREATS & TALENTS ON COSTUME FUN DAY!
Its Costume Fun day on the 28th of October! Let’s be somebody else on this day! We may be a plant, fruit/vegetable, animal, fairytale character, or wear an international costume on that day. We’ll have “treats and talents” for everyone!
“TULAKARUNUNGAN” UPDATE
We would like to thank everyone who shared their time, talent and treasure during the “Unang Tulak” which was graced by 2009 CNN Hero, Efren “Teacher Ef” Penaflorida.
“Tulakarunungan” is a once-a-month outreach program which is scheduled on Saturdays. The Dynamic Teen Company, Student Council, together with a HS Elective class go to the underprivileged community in Vista Verde and conduct values education classes, clinic and feeding services. This Saturday, October 2, we will be having the “Ikalawang Tulak” which Fine Arts Elective will sponsor and conduct an Art class for the children.
We invite you to join us and spend at least one Saturday a month with these less fortunate children!
